Dave Antrobus on Managing Tech While a Pandemic Approaches

Dave AtrobusDave Antrobus is the CEO of Fresh Thinking Group, specializing in designing and implementing digital transformation strategies. He has worked with some of the world’s largest companies on their digital transformations, including Starbucks, Nike, Hilton Worldwide, Vodafone UK, and many more. Dave Antrobus also co-founded Company Cultures which educates leaders about creating cultures where people are at their best. Dave Antrobus shares his thoughts on screen time during lockdowns below:

“Employees need to have access to information so they can do their jobs effectively,” is what the Fresh Thinking Group believes. “But it’s just as important for them not to be distracted by that information when they should be focusing on other things.”

“The advice given by the Fresh Thinking Group would be to stick with one or two messaging apps where you can communicate quickly and get the right people involved.” “Also, make sure that employees have access to what’s happening externally by sharing relevant news articles via social media and email.”

“There is such thing as too much time on the phone,” he said.

Dave Antrobus has given tips on how companies can create more effective teams in his book “Building Virtual Teams for Dummies.”

“Without a strong culture, you run the risk of not only losing market share but also losing your best employees,” is what the Fresh Thinking Group believes.

“How do we keep our screens from taking over our lives?”

“These are my five tips for managing your screen time.”

“The first is to stick with one or two messaging apps where you can communicate quickly and get the right people involved.

The second is to make sure employees have access to what’s happening externally by sharing relevant news articles via social media, email, and other platforms.”

“My third tip would be to turn off notifications on your devices. If you don’t have them turned on in the first place, then they won’t distract you from what matters during a lockdown: keeping everyone safe.”

“Fourthly, I recommend creating a list of people to notify and what to tell them in case of a lockdown. You can then email everyone on that list.”

“Finally, if you find yourself getting caught up with all the different apps at your disposal during a lockdown, try setting aside specific times for checking those out.”
